new book

thinking of writing a book about my life and how i became a Kerouac scholar or Kerouac biographer...  why and how i went out on the road after a hitch in the Navy and going back to my hometown in Stone Ridge.  i've had so many people tell me this is the book i should write.  maybe they are right?  write.  right?

from Don't Call Him Browny the novella

Don't call him Browny    the novella

Scene 7

Broadway Kingston, 1924 New York in the dawn-  near the old Post Office-  the auto's line the street, cars pass in the snow, it's Christmas Eve-
27 year old Horace DeBrucey Jones opens the door of his model T.  the engine fires up and w/in minutes the cab is a warm box...the radio blasts jazz into the dark snowy dawn.  the snow is fallin' heavy...the business establishments are sleeping.  the only lights are the neons of the signs that introxicate the blackness.

Climb In

Climb in...close the door...lock it.  tune the radio to a 1940 jazz station.  turn the key, push in the clutch, drop it into first, let out the clutch...and away we go...
